We'll paddle theBay of Pearls , where the cultured pearls industry originated and pearl rafts pepper the calm sea in an impressive display.
Our journey includes the saw-toothedcoast of Kii-hanto Peninsula , an area cherished by the Japanese for thousands of years for its natural beauty and spiritual significance. We’ll also paddle down the clear waters of the Kumano River , a fantastic way to get a unique perspective on the Kumanos spiritual landscape. The Kumano River is part of the Kumano Kodo, an ancient Shinto pilgrimage route, and the only waterway on the planet registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
An experienced Terra Santa guide will lead the group, accompanied by two English-speaking Japanese guides, Take Shibata and Katsu Ueno, a storyteller in the Kumano tradition.
