Every summer we go back to our paddling roots in Anglesey, Wales . All of us spend some time in Anglesey , developing our skills and love for kayaking between the tidal races (and the local pubs). Anglesey is where we earned our BCU qualifications and it is where our kayaks are conceived and manufactured.
Anglesey is but one part of the British Isles, which are a place of pilgrimage for sea kayakers. Modern sea kayaking was born here. Our trips to the United Kingdom are at the 3-4 star level, allowing us take in spectacular such as Ireland’s west coast, Scotland’s Outer and Inner Hebrides, the Shetland Islands, and, of course, Anglesey.
Conditions can vary -- from beautiful sheltered bays to awe-inspiring rugged coastlines, battered by storms and some of the most powerful tidal races in the world.
We believe that these areas are truly a paradise for sea kayakers. Paddle beneath the cliffs of some of the world’s largest seabird colonies where gannets, fulmars, arctic terns and delightful puffins fill the air. Or sit quietly in our kayaks as seals play nearby in waters plied by whales and dolphins. Imposing lighthouses, cathedral-like sea caves, archways, sea stacks, and rich history and culture are just a few of the treats that await us.
If the sea and winds take us to a remote coast, we might camp for the night, enjoying the fire, food, and perhaps a few bottles of the local brew or whisky that one of the guides might have stashed in his kayak. If we are closer to civilization, then we are likely to spend the night in a comfortable guest house, hopefully preceded by a visit to the local pub for refreshments and traditional music before retiring for the evening.
